I have a theory. If, in the hypothetical situation that you are paying to live in your mother's house, you are a tenant first and her daughter second. Additionally, you are gainfully employed and responsible for your own transportation. With these things consideded, as well as the fact that you are mature, responsible, and over 18, it seems ridiculous that you cannot go out without someone's permission. Unless you make it a habit to slam doors or break things when you get in after a particualr hour, it might be prudent to discuss how you could be treated like an almost 20-year-old instead of a 16-year-old.

College has made me very liberal.
